Physical gold and silver, priced off the live market.
Bullion Reserve is a walk-in bullion counter in Madison Heights, on 11 Mile just east of John R, a mile off I-75. We sell investment bars, sovereign coins and IRA-eligible metal at a premium over the live spot price that is quoted to you before you buy — the same way an institutional desk prices, at a counter you can drive to.
Every piece is verified and weighed in front of you and leaves with a receipt that says exactly what it is. No online checkout, no shipping risk: you see the metal, you take the metal.
Wealth preservation
What you are actually buying.
It can't be printed. Every dollar in existence was issued by decision, and more are issued every year. Gold and silver enter the world only as fast as they are dug out of it — roughly one to two percent a year for gold — and no committee can change that. That is what sound money means: money whose supply is not up to anyone.
It holds its purchasing power. The old rule of thumb is that an ounce of gold has bought a good suit for a century; the dollar of a century ago buys a few cents' worth today. Holding metal is not a bet on a price going up — it is a way of keeping value outside a currency that is designed to lose a little every year. That is what people mean by an inflation hedge.
It's nobody's promise. A stock is a claim on a company, a bond a claim on a borrower, a bank balance a claim on a bank. A bar in your hand is a claim on nobody. It cannot default, be diluted, be bailed in or be frozen; what is left is the ordinary job of keeping something valuable safe.
None of that depends on which counter you buy from. What does is whether the ounce is what it says it is, and what you paid over spot for it — which is the rest of this page.
What the metal is
- Nobody can issue more of it — supply grows only as fast as it is mined
- Historically it has kept its buying power while paper currencies lost theirs
- Nobody's liability — no issuer to default, no account to freeze
- A physical asset that passes hand to hand across generations
- Priced on a world market to the minute, and this counter buys it back the same way
- Bought across a counter, carried out in hand — no platform, no shipping
Prices move, in both directions, and nothing here is investment advice. This is what the counter deals in and why people hold it — whether to hold any of it is your call.
What we sell
Bars, coins and the paperwork that goes with them.
The case runs from gram bars to full ounces and from single coins to tubes. What is in it turns over with the market and with what walks in the door, so the live listing on The Vault is the inventory — and anything you are after that is not in it can usually be sourced.
Each form has its own page below with what to expect on premium, what to look for, and what we keep in stock.
- Carded gold bars — PAMP Suisse, Argor-Heraeus and other LBMA-listed refiners
- Sovereign gold and silver coins — American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs
- Silver bars and rounds, .999 fine, by the piece or the tube
- Graded PCGS / NGC coins when they come through the case
- Platinum and palladium bullion, as available

Why a counter, not a website
Verified in front of you, explained before you pay.
Online dealers add shipping, insurance and a wait to every order, and a package is the moment a bullion purchase is at risk. At the counter the piece is checked while you watch, the scale is in front of you, and the price is written against the spot figure on the board.
The same method runs in reverse: when you sell back, it is tested and priced the same way. That symmetry is the point of buying from a dealer with a counter.
What you leave with
- The metal, in hand — no shipping, no insurance gap
- A receipt naming the item, weight and purity
- The premium you were quoted, not a checkout surprise
- A counter that will buy it back and price it the same way

Straight answers
Questions people ask before they drive over
- Is gold an inflation hedge?
- Historically, yes — that is the plainest reason people hold it. A currency is issued by decision and loses a little purchasing power most years; gold is added to the world only as fast as it is mined, and over long stretches an ounce has kept its buying power while paper money lost most of its own. That is a description of what the metal is, not a promise about next year's price: metal prices move in both directions, and the counter prices them off the live market either way.
- Why physical metal rather than a gold ETF or a mining stock?
- An ETF share is a claim on a fund, and a mining stock is a claim on a company — both are someone's promise, held in an account someone else controls. A bar or coin in your hand is a claim on nobody: it cannot default, be diluted or be frozen, and it needs no login to exist. Paper gold is convenient; physical gold is the thing itself. Many people hold some of each — this counter deals in the physical.
- How is your price set?
- Off the live spot price plus a stated premium for the form — a sealed one-ounce bar carries a different premium than a sovereign coin or a fractional piece. The spot board on our home page is the same number the counter prices from, and the premium is quoted before you commit to anything.
- Can I see it verified before I pay?
- Yes, and we would rather you did. Bars and coins are checked for authenticity and weighed in front of you; carded bars stay sealed in their assay card. You leave with a receipt that names the item, its weight and purity.
- Do you sell IRA-eligible metal?
- Yes — bars and coins that meet the IRS fineness rules for a self-directed precious-metals IRA. The account itself is held by your custodian and an approved depository; we supply the metal and the paperwork trail. The Gold IRA page explains how the purchase works.
- Will you hold something for me?
- Call and the counter will hold an item from the case for you. Nothing is sold or reserved online — you pay at the counter, so the price you pay is the one quoted when you walk in.
- Do I need an appointment to buy?
- No. Walk in during counter hours. For a larger order, or if you would rather not stand at the retail counter, book a private appointment and the transaction happens at a dedicated table.
